Morrowind is by far my favourite Elder Scrolls game. In fact, it’s close to being my all time favourite game. And yes, Oblivion and Skyrim were great.. but they just weren’t like Morrowind.
People always seem to get confused as to why I love a game like Morrowind over a game like Skyrim. For one, I am a strong believer that good graphics do not necessarily make a good game. A game can be visually stunning, but lack certain elements required to make it great. Morrowind is definitely outdated, but everything else about is amazing.
I loved how Morrowind was set in a really alien environment. Things like the towering mushroom trees, to the strange creatures roaming around, to the creepy ambient noises. This is something Oblivion and Skyrim lacked. To me, the environment felt too much like that of Earth. Which is fine, because it did look nice with all the trees and grass, but it just lacked that creepy alien feeling Morrowind had.
